Shield of Sisters Ambassador Corps Program

As a member of the Shield of Sisters (SOS) Ambassador Corps you will act as part “town crier”, part cheerleader, and part connection-maker on behalf of the organization. You will play an instrumental role in spreading the word about Shield of Sisters and its mission & programs and connecting individuals with the organization & the organization with individuals.

Corps (n). A group of persons associated or working together

If you:

  • Believe wholeheartedly in our mission here at Shield of Sisters to support & empower Lady Veterans who suffered Military Sexual Trauma during their service to our country,
  • Have a connection to the military community in some way,
  • Agree that the world needs to know about Shield of Sisters as a resource for MST survivors,
  • Live within 50 miles of a US Military Installation, VA Medical Facility, or US Coast Guard Sector,
  • AND can volunteer about 5 hours per month

Requirements

Duties

As a member of the SOS Ambassador Corps, you agree to:

  • overall, be a “Cheerleader” for Shield of Sisters, someone who believes in the mission and dedicated to helping MST survivors by telling the world about Shield of Sisters
  • coordinate a minimum of one (1) no-cost meetup per quarter (in-person preferred) in Ambassador’s assigned geographic area for survivors of Military Sexual Trauma (can be in conjunction with a fellow Ambassador nearby)
  • make contact with the appropriate personnel (i.e., MST Coordinator at a VAMC or SAPRO at military installation) at your assigned Ambassadorship location to inform about Shield of Sisters, provide information, be a “frontline” point of contact, etc.
  • make contact with staff of the District Office of assigned Member(s) of Congress (U.S. Senate &/or U.S. House of Representatives) to inform about Shield of Sisters, provide information, be a “frontline” point of contact, etc.
  • be a local point of contact in assigned Ambassadorship location for survivors of Military Sexual Trauma (MST) and others who may be interested in Shield of Sisters’ programs & services
  • attend monthly scheduled Ambassador Corps meetings (virtual) held by Director of Training & Research or designee
  • attend & assist at Shield of Sisters on-site events held within 100 driving miles of the Ambassador’s home of record without expectation of monetary remuneration
  • attend & assist at the Shield of Sisters Annual National Conference (regardless of location) without expectation of monetary remuneration (Shield of Sisters will cover lodging & food)
  • connect a minimum of one (1) potential collaborative partner (individual, corporate, government, etc.) per 6-month-period with Shield of Sisters executive leadership
